Formed the Scientific Committee Professional of the V National Symposium on Forest Fires.
The Organizing Committee of the V National Symposium on Forest Fires made public the list of members of the Scientific-Professional Committee, whose members have the task of selecting the papers received for the purpose of being presented in the fifth edition of SINIF, to be held from 6 - 10 November, 2012 in La Nucía (Alicante), Spain.
A large group of experts on forest fires from Canada, Germany, USA, Greece, Portugal, Chile, Slovakia and Spain, will support the organizing committee in this new appointment of SINIF. Several European and American academic institutions will be represented in this V SINIF, through its Scientific Committee, as the universities of Freiburg (Germany), Coimbra (Portugal) Zvolen (Slovakia), Alberta (Canada), Washington (USA) and Cordoba, Miguel Hernandez, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela and Alicante, Spain.
In its few years of voyage, the SINIF has been gaining the trust of forest fire specialists not only Spanish but also in other countries. Dr. Johann G. Goldammer (Director of the Global Fire Monitoring Center and Coordinator of the Global Wildland Fire Network, University of Freiburg, Germany), Dr. Martin E. Alexander (member of the board of the International Association of Wildland Fire and researcher at the University of Alberta, Canada), Dr. Ernesto Alvarado (researcher of the Laboratory of Forest Fire Science Pacific, University of Washington in Seattle, USA ), Dr. Gavriil Xanthopoulos (Laboratory of Forest Ecosystems and Forest Fires of the National Agricultural Research Foundation-NAGREF, Athens, Greece), Dr. Domingos X. Viegas (ADAI - University of Coimbra, Portugal), Dr. Herbert Haltenhoff (National Chief and Forest Fire Management, Fire Management of the National Forest Corporation- CONAF, Chile) and Dr. Jan Holecy (Department of Forest Economics and Management, Technical University Svolen, Slovakia).
In our country, once again, the SINIF Scientific-Professional Committee still has the support of important figures in research and combating forest fires in Spain, like Dr. Francisco Rodriguez y Silva (Director, Defence Laboratory Forest Fire, University of Cordoba), Dr. Ricardo Velez (member of the Spanish Society of Forestry Sciences), Dr. Inmaculada Paz Andrade (researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela) and Dr. Jorge Olcina Cantos (director of Laboratory of Climatology at the University of Alicante). Also, some representatives of professional institutions, such as D. Javier Navarrete (fire officer and Chairman of the Technical Association of Fire - APTB), and delivery services such as D. Francisco Tejedor (responsible of the Research Group on Forest Fires of the Generalitat Valenciana) and D. Fco José Cerdá (fire officer of the Provincial de Alicante).
Noted also the two new spanish additions to the V SINIF Scientific- Professional Committee, that of Dr. Jorge Mataix Solera (member of Environmental Soil Science Group, Department of Agrochemistry and Environment, at the Miguel Hernandez University, and coordinator of FuegoRed) and Dr. Jose Luis Soto Legido (researcher at the Department of Applied Physics, University of Vigo).
